What is Chromotherapy lights?Updated 7 hours ago

Chromotherapy, also known as colour light therapy, uses coloured LED lights to create different moods and wellness experiences. It is commonly found in saunas, massage chairs, spas, and wellness rooms.

Unlike red light therapy (RLT) or near-infrared (NIR) therapy, chromotherapy is generally intended for relaxation and ambience, rather than delivering clinically studied physiological benefits.

How Chromotherapy Works

Different colours are believed to influence mood and emotional wellbeing. While scientific evidence is limited, many users report feeling more relaxed or energised depending on the colour selected.

In a Sauna

When a sauna includes chromotherapy lighting, the coloured LEDs:

  • Create a more relaxing environment.
  • Allow users to select a colour based on their preferred mood.
  • Do not affect the sauna's heating performance.
  • Are separate from the infrared heating panels.

For example:

  • Blue or green is often used during relaxation sessions.
  • Red or orange may be chosen for a more energising atmosphere.
  • Purple is commonly used for meditation or mindfulness sessions.
