How do you remove the top plate on the SM26 weight selector rod?Updated 2 hours ago

When purchasing an add-on weight stack, your kit includes new selector rods, cables, and additional weight plates. The top weight plate from your original weight stack will need to be transferred onto the new, longer selector rod.

Installation Steps

  1. Locate the roll pin that secures the top weight plate to the original selector rod. It is fitted through the small hole in the top weight plate.
  2. Using a hammer and a pin punch, or a screwdriver that closely matches the diameter of the roll pin (while still fitting inside the hole), carefully tap the roll pin out until it is completely removed.
  3. Remove the original selector rod from the top weight plate.
  4. Insert the new, longer selector rod into the same position.
  5. Align the holes in the top weight plate and the new selector rod.
  6. Reinsert the original roll pin and gently tap it back into place using the hammer and punch/screwdriver until it is fully seated and securely holds the top weight plate to the new selector rod.

Important: Ensure the roll pin is fully inserted and flush before using the weight stack. Confirm the selector rod and top plate are securely fastened and move freely before operating the machine.
